The Ajax in der Praxis cake It has finally happened! Today, for the first time, I got to hold an actual (physical) copy of my book in my own hands. What can I say... it was quite a sublime feeling.
Because the publishing house hadn't sent me my free copies yet, I had to go to a local book store and buy it there. I pre-ordered it under my real name and when I went to pick it up, I paid for it using my debit card (which also has my name on it). Yet, nobody noticed that I was actually buying my own book (and I'm glad they didn't). I quickly flipped through all the pages and I must say I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
The release of my book also marks the end of a big project that at times seemed too big to tackle. Of course I still have plenty to do, especially because the book now has a website that I intend to update frequently, but the main work is done. To properly celebrate this, I made a fancy "Ajax in der Praxis" cake today. It has three layers that are held together by a fair amount of butter cream, it's covered with white chocolate and it's decorated with a fondant version of the book's cover artwork. I documented the "making of" just in case you're interested. Also, I haven't tried the cake yet so I can't really say whether it's any good. I'll keep you posted though.
